The name to remember is Merrick Hanna. He’s no stranger to fame, but AGT gave him another shot to reclaim a previously missed opportunity.
We’ve seen many dancing acts over the years on ‘America’s Got Talent,’ but this one takes the cake. Not only was it original, but the young dancer’s spirit also showed in every movement and execution.
After young Merrick Hanna failed to capture the Top 10 of Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation,” the boy got a rousing response on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” and when you see his performance, you’ll understand why Simon called it one of the “best performances” he’s ever seen.
Merrick received a standing ovation from both Cowell and fellow judge Howie Mandel, who proclaimed of the youngster’s “flo-bot” style: “I loved that. Wow.” Cowell said he would cast Merrick in a pop video in a “heartbeat.”
He’s such a brilliant dancer. He tells the story so well and has so much emotion! He is truly amazing and absolutely beautiful. He can tell the story really well. He actually deserved the Golden Buzzer and to win American Got Talent. 😀 I have never seen Simon stand up so fast.
Merrick was featured on the Ellen Show and has performed in commercials for H&M, Honda Odyssey, Gap Kids, and many more. In the quarterfinals, he once again impressed the judges and was voted through to the semi-finals by the American public, but he was eliminated. Today, the video showing Hanna’s audition has accumulated over 15 million views on YouTube and trended #1.
Now watch and see why Simon said of Hanna, “Honestly one of the best dance performances I’ve ever seen on the show.”
